HIGH SCHOOL RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Grades 9 & 10 meet each Sunday from 10:30am-11:20am in the OLVCS school building.

The 9th grade textbook is The Catholic Faith Handbook & Pure Faith. The Catholic Faith Handbook is a comprehensive overview of the Catholic faith, in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Pure Faith is a prayer guide written just for teens, to help deepen their interior life so that they can encounter God on a daily basis. It contains prayers for every occasion, prayers before and after Mass and Confession, prayers to various saints, and a wealth of advice on how young people can develop a rich prayer life.

The 10th grade textbook is YOU: Life, Love, and the Theology of the Body Theology of the Body curriculum for teens helps them discover God's plan for love and their life. John Paul II's landmark teaching engages teens minds and hearts. The curriculum is both catechetical and evangelistic.

Grade 11 meets in the Church Gathering Area

twice a month on Sunday afternoons from 2:30-4:30pm.

The 11th grade curriculum is based on Catholic Social Justice.

~The Sacrament of Confirmation preparation begins in 9th grade and continues through 11th grade.

Diocesan guidelines require a three year preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. ~
