Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based approach to faith formation for children ages 3 to 12. Level I (ages 3-6) will be offered through OLV CCD for students currently enrolled in Kindergarten this year.   It is theologically sound, systematic, and rich in scripture, liturgy, and sacred history. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd takes place in an atrium, a sacred, hands-on space in which both children and catechists can hear, ponder, and celebrate the essential mysteries of the Catholic faith as revealed in scripture and the liturgy. The catechesis was developed in Rome by two faithful Catholic women over a fifty-year period.  Dr. Sofia Cavalletti, a biblical scholar, and Gianna Gobbi, a highly trained Montessori instructor joined forces to help children learn about the richness of our Catholic faith utilizing hands-on methodology.  It has spread throughout the world and been visited by St. Pope John Paul II.
