SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

Confirmation Program
The 9th grade Confirmation program includes the following components.  Fall Catechetical Session, Rite of Blessing, retreat, Group Service Project, 15 hours of individual service with written reflection paper and verification form, Spring Session and two parent/youth meetings.  9th grade youth who attend St. Joseph Academy and Home School youth are required along with the religious education youth to attend all components of the Confirmation Program. During the 3 years of formation, youth are required to attend a minimum of ONE diocesan youth conference (SHYCON) and ONE diocesan Eucharistic Adoration day.  The time for the Catechetical Sessions and parent meetings are 2:30-4:30pm.  

The 10th grade are required to complete the same requirements as 9th grade youth with the exception of the "Rite."  The 10th grade youth attend the Rite of Commitment.
The 11th grade Confirmation program includes the following components.  A parent/youth meeting held in the fall, 2 Fall Confirmation Sessions, overnight retreat, Group Service Project, 15 hours of individual service hours including a written reflection paper and verification form, 1 Spring Confirmation session, The Rite of Sending Forth, interview with Pastor and practice.  11th grade youth who attend St. Joseph Academy and Home School youth are required along with the religious education youth to attend all components of the Confirmation Program.  During the 3 years of formation, youth are required to attend a minimum of ONE diocesan youth conference (SHYCON) and ONE diocesan Eucharistic Adoration day.  The time for the Confirmation Sessions and parent meeting are 2:30-4:30pm.
